Physical Inspection Monitoring at Pipav Port Project
Scope of Engagement
DTAMISSPL was engaged to conduct Physical Inspection Monitoring for completed and ongoing works across operational port premises. The scope included:
- Verification of job completion status against GPPL’s work requisitions
- Physical measurement of quantities (Civil, MEP, P&E works)
- Review of vendor documentation such as PO/WO, challans, drawings, and specifications.
- Rate validation and benchmarking with prevailing market standards
- Review of workmanship, material quality, and compliance with issued PO/WO
- Observation of deviations, gaps, and documentation irregularities
- Submission of a detailed Physical Inspection Assessment Report for financing purpose
Key Areas Under Inspection
- Civil Works: Roof sheet installation, painting, walkways, mosquito net installation
- Mechanical Works: Fire pipeline fixing, structural work
- Electrical Works: Installation of new power supply point
- Material inspection and verification
- Review of contractor invoices vs. PO/WO quantities
- Quality assessment of workmanship and materials
- Documentation review including drawings, challans, inspection records, testing & commissioning reports
Project Outcome & Purpose
The Physical Inspection Monitoring exercise enabled GPPL to:
- Obtain an accurate and independently validated status of completed works
- Confirm invoice values were within PO/WO limits and aligned with executed quantities
- Identify gaps in documentation, material tracking, and approvals
- Improve internal processes like material challan submission, testing & commissioning documentation, and measurement sheet authentication
- Ensure quality assurance across civil, mechanical, and electrical works
- Strengthen project monitoring for ongoing and future repair/expansion works at Pipavav Port
